My Story

One of my mentors, and a really great guy said that everyone has a story to tell.  Here’s mine…

  • Born in Wilmington, DE
  • Moved to MD
  • Started Kindergarten with Ms. Merson, who my dad called the Merson-Person.
  • Carved Pumpkins and dressed up like a witch for halloween (about 4 years in a row).
  • Hated pulling green beans from the garden, but loved fresh corn and tomatoes.
  • Hung upside down on monkey-bars in our tree house, and spun around on the tire swing until I couldn’t walk straight.
  • Went camping every summer, became a Junior Ranger, hiked to Turkey Point lighthouse, and fished for crabs with chicken legs on twine.

Middle School

  • Got my pencil stolen in art class… it had my name engraved on it.
  • Asked to the school dance by my biggest crush.
  • Attempted to learn clarinet.
  • Rode my bike all summer long.
  • Won the “Most Artistic” award at summer camp
  • Middle School Morning News anchor-person
  • Joined a book club at the library

High School

  • Brought home my first boyfriend to which my dad responded “I don’t want you marrying him!”
  • Performed in the school play
  • Joined the chorus
  • Videographer for the football team
  • Got my first job at Waffle House and said “Top of the morning to ya” to everyone who walked in the door.
  • Graduation and moved to Tennessee for college

College

  • Started getting serious about exercise
  • Tore cartilage in knee, it’s bothered me ever since
  • Started singing again —- met Aaron in the chorus
  • Traveled to NY, LA, Atlanta, and Europe as an ambassador for the college
  • Made a lot of Art
  • Got married

Life after school

  • Taught High school Art
  • Moved to Hawaii and learned photography
  • Attempted to sell artwork at Kapioloni Park… never sold a thing
  • Moved to Kentucky —- became a secretary
  • Got a dog, and a house, and real furniture… no cinder-blocks, bunk beds, or milk crates.
