My Story
One of my mentors, and a really great guy said that everyone has a story to tell. Here’s mine…
- Born in Wilmington, DE
- Moved to MD
- Started Kindergarten with Ms. Merson, who my dad called the Merson-Person.
- Carved Pumpkins and dressed up like a witch for halloween (about 4 years in a row).
- Hated pulling green beans from the garden, but loved fresh corn and tomatoes.
- Hung upside down on monkey-bars in our tree house, and spun around on the tire swing until I couldn’t walk straight.
- Went camping every summer, became a Junior Ranger, hiked to Turkey Point lighthouse, and fished for crabs with chicken legs on twine.
Middle School
- Got my pencil stolen in art class… it had my name engraved on it.
- Asked to the school dance by my biggest crush.
- Attempted to learn clarinet.
- Rode my bike all summer long.
- Won the “Most Artistic” award at summer camp
- Middle School Morning News anchor-person
- Joined a book club at the library
High School
- Brought home my first boyfriend to which my dad responded “I don’t want you marrying him!”
- Performed in the school play
- Joined the chorus
- Videographer for the football team
- Got my first job at Waffle House and said “Top of the morning to ya” to everyone who walked in the door.
- Graduation and moved to Tennessee for college
College
- Started getting serious about exercise
- Tore cartilage in knee, it’s bothered me ever since
- Started singing again —- met Aaron in the chorus
- Traveled to NY, LA, Atlanta, and Europe as an ambassador for the college
- Made a lot of Art
- Got married
Life after school
- Taught High school Art
- Moved to Hawaii and learned photography
- Attempted to sell artwork at Kapioloni Park… never sold a thing
- Moved to Kentucky —- became a secretary
- Got a dog, and a house, and real furniture… no cinder-blocks, bunk beds, or milk crates.
